Precision UWB Personnel Positioning System

12/12/2025

UWB (Ultra-Wideband) technology excels in indoor and personnel positioning. In recent years, it has seen rapid adoption in wireless positioning and radar ranging for civilian use. Today, we introduce the DW1000 chip — Decawave’s pioneering fully integrated, low-power, low-cost UWB transceiver compliant with IEEE 802.15.4-2011.

The DW1000 enables two-way ranging (TWR) or TDoA positioning with 10 cm accuracy and supports data rates up to 6.8 Mbps. It provides precise location awareness and high-speed data transmission, revolutionizing real-time location systems (RTLS), indoor positioning, wireless sensor networks, and IoT applications — ideal for scenarios like tunnel worker tracking where exact positioning is critical.
